NATALIE MCKAY Board Member
What made you want to become involved with the Hub?
I was pregnant with my first child when I joined the board at the Hub, I thought it was a perfect time to get involved and I’ve had the opportunity to share my journey of becoming a new parent with my fellow board members and it’s been a really inspiring adventure.
How long have you resided in Fort McMurray and can you tell me your favourite thing about the community:
In total, I have lived in Fort McMurray for 5 years, I moved here permanently in April 2014 as I was finishing up my Bachelor of Public Relations from Mount Saint Vincent University in Bedford, NS. During my time at MSVU, I did all 3 of my co-op placements here with the RMWB, which totalled a year.
My favorite thing about Wood Buffalo/ Fort McMurray is the sense of community.
When not volunteering your time, what can we find you doing?
I’ve spent the last year on maternity leave, so my days have been filled with playing with my son, Rhett, who’s an absolute goof ball. I love working out, Oranj Fitness is like a second home to me. I also love to read, cook, be outside and spend time with my husband, Sean and my pooches, Sadie and Bear.
I return to work in a week, I am the Public Education Officer for Bylaw Services at the RMWB.
What is your aspiration for the Hub and our community?
The Hub is an incredible resource for our community, my aspiration is that it continues to thrive and be utilized and that residents/ families take the time to educate themselves on all the wonderful services the Hub provides and makes sure to check them out if they are interested!
