The Hub Family Resource Centre (The Hub) is encouraging parents to drop by either of their locations to learn more about a new set of recommendations, called the Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines for the Early Years.
The Guidelines set out how much sleep, movement and time sitting are needed by kids ages four and under for healthy growth and development.
Executive Director of The Hub, Chantal Beaver, states, “being a parent in the digital age can be very overwhelming, there seems to be new information and rules every day. The Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines for the Early Years are solid; however, they are just that – guidelines. Every child and every day are different, so too will be the way in which parents are able to apply these guidelines”.
The Hub offers free programs and resources to families in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB). Among these programs are play and physical-activity programming that boasts the energetic play that the Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines for the Early Years encourage. The Hub is also proud to offer parenting programs and family support services focused specifically on healthy sleep for children.
The Hub is a non-profit charitable organization, offering free programming and resources to families in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB). The majority of services offered at The Hub are targeted towards children newborn to six years old and their families. Since The Hub opened their doors in 2003 the mission has been to strengthen capacities and encourage the best possible development of families in the RMWB.
