KIDS HAVE STRESS TOO!

Kids Have Stress Too gives parents and caregivers tools to better understand stress and to help their child(ren) respond to it in a healthy way. If children can learn to respond to stress in a healthy and constructive way early on, they will be more resilient and better able to cope with whatever life sends their way. For children ages 4 to 18.

CROSS CULTURAL PARENTING

For many newcomer/immigrant parents, cross-cultural parenting can be both challenging and highly rewarding. In addition to the general issues that are common in all families, such as parent-child communication and child discipline, newcomer parents have to deal with some unique challenges and this 5- session long cross cultural parenting program was designed with this in mind to help  promote healthy family life,  active participation of immigrant families in Canadian society , and to help them develop critical awareness about cultural values and expectations and learn  practical skills for positive cross-cultural parenting and participation in Canadian society.

CIRCLE OF SECURITY (0-18 YEARS)

Circle of Security helps parents/caregivers to:

  • Understand their child’s emotional world by learning to read emotional needs

  • Support their child’s ability to successfully manage emotions

  • Enhance the development of their child's self esteem

  • Honor the innate wisdom and desire for their child to be secure

4-week evening series

For expectant couples and couples with children 0-18 months

Big changes happen when children come along! Learning how to stay connected as a couple and finding healthy ways to solve problems are important to happy and healthy relationships that last. Take some time out to connect with your partner and practice skills that you can use for a lifetime. Based on the work of Dr. John and Julie Gottman.

Week 1: Staying connected with your partner

Week 3: The four steps of constructive problem solving

Week 4: The importance of fathers; Creating shared meaning  

TRIPLE P POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAM (0-18 YEARS)

Triple P is a parenting program, but it doesn’t tell you how to be a parent. It’s more like a toolbox of ideas. You choose the strategies you need. You choose the way you want to use them. It’s all about making Triple P work for you.

Are you curious about new tools to manage your child’s tantrums. or bedtime routines? Do you find setting rules and limits with your teen challenging? Are you curious as to how to raise confident, and resilient children? Then Triple P is for you!

The Hub Family Resource Centre offers this Positive Parenting Program for free to parents and caregivers in the RMWB, in the community and within our centre.

 

WHAT CAN TRIPLE P OFFER?

 

Triple P Positive Parenting Program gives parents and caregivers the skills they need to raise confident, healthy children and teenagers, and to build stronger family relationships. It also helps parents manage misbehavior and prevent problems occurring in the first place. There are many different levels of Triple P, making this program accessible to parents, caregivers and their families.

The Triple P – Positive Parenting Program is one of the world’s most effective parenting programs. With more than 30 years of ongoing research, Triple P has been scientifically trialed with thousands of families around the world and has been found to work for most families in a wide variety of cultures, countries and individual situations. Triple P has helped an estimated four million children and their families in 25 countries around the world.

TRIPLE P - SEMINAR SERIES

The Seminar Series is a great introduction to the principles of positive parenting and different ways to encourage confidence, competence and resilience in your children. Some of the most common parenting and behavioral issues will be addressed.

TRIPLE P - DISCUSSION GROUP

Discussion Groups promote parent interaction, while giving you practical information to manage behavior and develop your own positive parenting skills. Topics include Hassle-Free Shopping, Developing Good Bedtime Routines, Dealing with Disobedience, and Managing Fighting and Aggression.

TRIPLE P - PRIMARY CARE

Primary Care includes 4, 15-30 minute sessions with a trained Triple P practitioner, to develop personalized strategies and receive support in whatever area you require. *Indigenous format available*

TRIPLE P - GROUP

This 6-week program will increase your skills in managing your child’s or teen’s behavior, in a group setting. Parents will discuss and share ideas about parenting, and receive practical information that they can incorporate into everyday interactions with their children.
*Indigenous format available.

TRIPLE P - STEPPING STONES

Stepping Stones helps parents (of children with a disability) manage one or two specific behavioral problems and/or development issues that are a current concern. *Can be done in group or individual sessions.

TRIPLE P - STANDARD

Standard Triple P is a personal and thorough way to get Triple P parenting support. You will have 10 face-to-face sessions with a Triple P provider. Set your own goals, identify the changes you would like to see in your child or teenager’s behavior and work with your Triple P provider to choose the strategies that will fit with your family life.

TRIPLE P - FAMILY TRANSITIONS

Family Transitions Triple P is a 5-session evidence-based parenting program aimed at supporting parents who are making the transition through separation and divorce. Family Transitions Triple P offers parents strategies to help prevent behavioral, emotional, and developmental problems in children and adolescents by enhancing the knowledge, skills and confidence of parents to make a smooth transition. This program also provides parents with coping tools and strategies to co-parent effectively. Co-parents attend separate sessions.

TRIPLE P - ENHANCED

Enhanced Triple P is a program that helps you cope with emotional crises and stress, and/or argue less with your partner. Choose from a selection of three mix-and-match modules, doing as much or as little as you need. Enhanced Triple P is done privately.

TRIPLE P - PATHWAYS

Pathways Triple P helps you to cope better with your anger. Pathways builds on the positive parenting strategies in other courses to give you strategies you can use to avoid anger and stress. You choose the problems you need help with and the sessions are tailored to suit you.

DISASTER RECOVERY TRIPLE P

Specifically for after an emergency or extreme weather event, parents and caregivers will learn strategies on how to best manage their child’s post-disaster emotions and signs of distress.
